Latin name: Cinnamomum ZeylanicumPart of the plant used: hojas and ramitasSource: Sri LankaExtraction method: steam distillationEssential cinnamon oil is extracted by steam distillation from the Cinnamomum zeylanicum tree, also called Ceylan cinnamon or true cinnamon. There are two types of essential oils extracted: one of the leaves, which is softer, yellow to light brown in color, and is used more frequently in aromatherapy; and the other of the bark, which is dark brown in color and is not commonly preferred in aromatherapy. Cinnamon oil is soothing with powerful antiseptic properties. When used in an oil burner, it is said that this oil helps with colds and bronchitis and alleviates depression. It is used to help with bronchitis, diarrhea, cold sores, infections, flu, rheumatism and arthritis when used in bath water or mixed with a massage oil. Relieves nausea and vomiting. Stimulates the glandular system and therefore reduces menstrual pain. Avoid today's acceptance during the embarassment. The bark oil is very strong and should only be used diluted, under expert supervision. The cinnamon tree is native to the Indian subcontinent and has been an important element of trade for centuries between India, China and Egypt. The cinnamon fountain was a mystery to the Western world for a long time. According to Herodotus and other authors, Arabia was the source of cinnamon. The story tells that giant cinnamon birds picked up cinnamon sticks to hang in a mysterious place where cinnamon trees grew. The Arabs just tricked the birds and sucked the cinnamon. This was the creation until 1310 in Byzantium.
